The Reception Class is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
We follow the curriculum as set out by the government covering three Prime areas of learning:Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Communication and Language (CL) and Physical Development, and the Specific areas of learning: Literacy (L), Mathematics (M), Understanding the World (UW) and Expressive Arts & Design (EAD). All areas of learning are important at this stage and the planning and activities are based around this.
In Reception we learn through play, creating fun activities in which children learn new skills in an enjoyable environment.
We aim to cover a range of topics and these can include: 'All About Me', 'Come and Celebrate', 'On the Move', 'Beanstalks & Butterflies' and 'Adventurers & Explorers'. However we also plan around children's interests, a recent short topic we used was Space!

Welcome to Reception Class
Reception 2016 are settling in really well!
Our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Children's kit should be in school every day. We have started sending home reading books so please sign the reading diary when you read with your child at home. We will aim to hear your children read once a week and swap their books twice, so again please ensure your child's books are in their folder every day.
If you have any questions please speak to Mrs Marsh or Mrs Lansdown at the end of the day.
