Our learning is based around a variety of topics, which we try to link to as many areas of the National Curriculum as possible. Subjects such as Maths, English, RE, Science and PE are generally taught discretely, however we do link them to topics whenever we can. The learning experiences within this year are hugely varied and include written outcomes, experiments and research. We try to cover as many different aspects of learning as possible in order to make school fun and engaging for all members of the class.
USEFUL INFORMATION
Reading - we expect children to be reading regularly at home: the benefits, both academic and social, are huge! Children are welcome to borrow books from our class or school library. Homework (times tables and spellings) is set on Fridays, and needs to be completed for the following Friday. A homework grid is also provided termly for children to select a different task from each week. Reading records are checked every Tuesday to monitor children’s reading at home.
PE kit should be worn on the days the children have PE. This consists of white T shirt, navy/black shorts or plain navy-blue tracksuit bottoms (Spring/Winter terms only) and daps/ trainers. School Fleece tops can be worn for outdoor PE sessions.
Outdoor learning kits should be worn on the days the children have outdoor learning sessions. This consists of leggings or joggers, normal trainers, socks, a hoody and a top. In a bag please could they bring wellies (or any outdoor shoe), outdoor coat, extra socks, water proofs (if you have them) or spare pair of joggers, gloves and a hat.
