The main role of F.O.S.M is to fundraise to provide additional resources or opportunities to advance and enrich the education of the pupils of St. Mary’s school.
We also seek to promote a sense of community and our activities support the school’s ethos. We are open to all those associated with the school even if they only have a small amount of time to get involved.

We raise thousands of pounds each year that go directly to pay for
resources, equipment and activities for the children of St Mary's. Over
recent years we have purchased picnic benches, funded the school's
'sports, arts and culture week', funded learning resources such as
reading scheme books and last year we paid for the redevelopment of the
school nature area.
Our meetings are not restricted to school halls, they have taken place in Costa, in local pubs and at our houses. We often have a quick discussion in the carpark or playground. Fundraising in uncertain economic times has not been easy and we have tried to avoid placing too many demands on our very supportive school community. We keep pupils and parents informed via the newsletter, flyers and posters.
In the past, we have funded the new walkway and dipping platform in the Nature Area and we funded an Arts Week enjoyed by all pupils. Our fundraising efforts over the years has really changed and improved the outdoor space at St. Marys and we should all be proud of that. Without FOSM fundraising there would be no play area, no playground markings and no playground shelters. We would like to do more.
